Take a Moment to Think About It

Take a Moment to Think About It

The value of water is immeasurable.

Every October the water community reflects on A Day Without Water to better educate, appreciate, and understand this incredible resource. The Water Industry’s most important mission is to preserve and protect water for generations to come (both animal, plant and human generations!).

For many, living without fresh flowing water is a stark reality. When water is unavailable, communities stop functioning. Water is used to prepare meals, baths, sanitation, hydration, industry, agriculture, and so much more.

Throughout October, water teams strive to educate their communities about the importance of fresh flowing water within their communities, and support those struggling for better access to this important resource.

Ask yourself, how many gallons does it take…

  • ~1,800 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pair of blue jeans.

  • 1 Sunday newspaper requires ~150 gallons of water.

  • ~120 gallons of water are needed for a chicken to produce 1 egg.

  • ~2,257 gallons of water are required to make 1 pair of tennis shoes.

  • The average vanilla latte takes ~53 gallons of water to create.

  • ~37 gallons of water are need to grow enough beans for 1 cup of coffee.

Essential. Reliable. Invaluable. Water.
